Grace Cossington Smith Gallery
Paper is fragile and strong, absorbent and rigid, flat and bulky, pliable and solid, smooth and rough…and, vulnerable to decay. Paper has been considered second best to other art materials, consequently there is a sense of freedom for an artist to experiment without worry of preciousness. Whether as a responsive and characterful surface to interact with, or as a material to sculpt, paper responds readily to artists’ ideas and transformations.
The exhibition includes work hung, projected, sculpted and encased.
Opening event: Sat 8th July, 2-4pm with Akky van Ogtrop
Closing event: Sat 22nd July, 2-4pm
